Continuing a legacy of pursuing reduced weight, lower start-up inertia and enhanced sensitivity, the Shimano Vanford FA elevates the MagnumLite lineup of spinning reels with technology passed down from Shimano flagship series. An MGL Rotor highlights the all-new Vanford FA to provide anglers with heightened performance when employing “start-and-stop” finesse bass techniques or when needing quick hook-setting execution. Combined with the lightweight CI4+ body, the Vanford’s low start-up inertia enables anglers to maintain complete control using tactics requiring immediate reel action to keep the lure within the strike zone, enabling them to adjust cadence based on fish behavior. Equipped with InfinityXross technology — a refined gear design that enhances winding efficiency and provides supremely smooth retrievals — offers heightened control when finesse fishing, enabling delicate presentations and precise lure manipulation. Shimano engineers incorporated Infinity Drive technology to reduce contact between the spool shaft and pinion gear to enhance smoothness and efficiency during retrieval. Merging the smooth performance of felt with the wear resistance of carbon, DuraCross drag technology increases drag durability tenfold, providing confidence when battling big fish. Setting the standard as the premier spinning reel for finesse anglers, the Vanford FA boasts many of Shimano’s latest flagship technologies to ensure unparalleled smoothness and performance.
Shimano Vanford FA Spinning Reel Features:
- Infinity Drive: An advanced structure that creates exceptionally light winding even under heavy loads. The main shaft, which the pinion gear had previously supported, is now supported by a new and unique low-friction bushing to decrease frictional resistance.
- InfinityXross: Provides superior gear durability through industry-leading and cutting-edge manufacturing technology. The gear tooth design advancements improve surface contact and meshing between the drive and pinion gears. This efficiently distributes the load placed on the gear tooth surface across a wider area to improve gear durability.
- DuraCross: Smooth and reliable drag performance with incredible durability. This revolutionary drag washer incorporates cutting-edge materials woven in a unique pattern compared to conventional drag washers and is 10x more durable.
- SilentDrive: Removal of unnecessary noise and vibration to the micron level, creating an overall quieter and smoother reel operation.
- Anti-Twist Fin: Maintains line tension to reduce sagging and keeps line tucked against line roller.
- MGL Rotor: Achieves up to 14% reduction in rotational inertia and increased rigidity that contributes to drag performance.
- Long-Stroke Spool: Smoother line lay during retrieval, which translates to increased casting distance.
- CI4+: Advanced version of original CI4 and is 2.5x more rigid while improving lightness.
- X-Protect
- G-Free Body
- One-Piece Bail
- HAGANE Body
